It's Not About You

The time has come
For us to dance together once again.
Looking back, i think we are almost ready for Sunday's dedication item. My dear dancers, i would like to share with you my thoughts on this process and i hope u will take time to read and reflect.
I reckon that you know that the process of preparing for a dance has never been easy. We rush to make sure that details are not overlooked and dance requires practice-that's the only way we can be prepared and be ready for an item. So i thank all of you for your commitment during the past weeks because without the dancers, there is no dance! Although getting everyone to be present for practice has always been so difficult and i hope that this process will be a learning experience for all. Your presence for dance means a lot to me and to every one in the ministry. No one is replaceable and that's the reason why i am constantly asking for your commitment to come because no one can ever take your place in this ministry.
As we get ourselves ready both physically and spiritually for this Sunday's item, i want us to spend some time to reflect about our attitude towards serving in this ministry. My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, let us take on the attitude of a servant. In creative arts ministry like dance, it is very easy to miss the whole point of serving and let our human nature get in the way. Over the weekend after witnessing the things that happened, this sentence came especially strong to me and i wish to share with you....
To all youth and kids dancers, regardless of your age and differences, let us always remember this when we serve that it's not about us. it's not about me and it's not about you individually. I believe once we have that mentality in mind, things will be put right again. It's amazing that we are all so different in character and yet, we make up this ministry, simply hoping that God will take us as we are and use it for His glory and yes, He has done that time and time again. In everything that we do, lets learn to look to the interest of others just as we have learnt in the study of Philippians. The only way we can all stay together in unity and harmony is to learn to consider others before self. It's easier said than done, that i know.
At any point, i believe we have all gone through these stages of emotions -be it feeling discontented with the decision of others, feeling frustrated at the speed of things, feeling left out and unimportant with the task or the part of dance given to u, feeling of disappointment towards each other or even yourself and we often let all these emotions get the better of us.
Take a look at all these emotions...the reason why we would feel that way is just because of one word - "ME", isnt it? But that's just human nature and i am guilty of it too. But one thing i ask of us my dear friends is this, that we will attempt to conduct ourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel, to stand firm in one spirit. i think it is so timely that we are in the midst of our study of the book of Philippians as well. Remember my question to you guys..? Why is it so important to be united with Christians? I believe we know why now. Guard ourselves and do not let the evil one take a foothold on our weaknesses and use to it create disharmony among ourselves.
No imagination of mine would have ever imagined us to come this far to this day, all i had to bring me to this day was just a vision and a small hope of having a group of christ inspired dancers to worship the Lord through the area of dance. I must thank you guys for making this vision into a reality. The last step of this journey before we dance on sunday...is to remember to pray. Unless the Lord builds the house, we labour in vain. We are in this together guys, lets not compromise on the purpose of our every dance just to satisfy ourselves or to meet the deadline.
As we meet again on saturday for our last practice, lets remember how God has brought us together and how he has changed your life through dance. I believe each of us have our own story to tell. i always see ourselves as pieces of jisaw... each piece being so unique and different, yet we fit together... so that the purpose of doing the jigsaw will be fulfilled as the final picture is revealed. Each piece of jigsaw cannot stand alone as it is useless and worthless alone but together with many other pieces, they form a wonderful picture together.
I still believe we have missing pieces, waiting for others to join us to complete this picture. so for us who are in the process of completing this picture, lets keep holding on and extend our invitation to others to join this family!
In the next post i shall update the pictures!
Are you excited to dance again this sunday? You bet i am!
Love
